Formalising a regional community in Asia

GOSH Community members are working with the OpenFIESTA team to establish a regional open science hardware community in Asia (AsiaOSH). They are seeking feedback from the community as they work to organize future Gatherings in the region. 

Updates from the Gathering Working Group

Over the past few weeks, the Gathering Working Group has held meetings with potential hosts of the next Gathering. They will soon begin the selection process for the host partner and location, which you can follow along here

 Happening this month: Open Source Hardware Directory workshop

Join the GOSH Community and Internet of Production Alliance for a workshop to create a searchable and indexable project directory for open science hardware (OSH) projects. This workshop is open to anyone involved in the open source hardware community, and is happening on February 12th. Find out more about the workshop here!

GOSH Welcome Calls are the perfect opportunity for new members to learn more about the GOSH Community. Each call consists of a short presentation with plenty of time for discussion and questions. Be sure to register in advance, as each call is limited to 5 participants!

GOSH Community Calls are events where the community can learn about activities and projects from around the world and discuss interesting Open Science Hardware topics. The calls feature several presentations from community members, with time for discussion and questions.

Funding opportunity: African Research Leaders, which will provide funding to support exceptional early to mid-career African researchers to conduct excellent global health research across sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Applications close on 24 April 2024 at 4:00pm UK time.

The next FOSSASIA Summit is happening in Hanoi, Vietnam from April 8-10, 2024.

Re:publica24 is happening from 27-29 May 2024 in Berlin, Germany.

The Global Innovation Fund is accepting funding proposals on a rolling basis.

Registration now open: Hardware Pioneers Max24, taking place in London, UK from 28-29 May, 2024.

The Everything Open 2024 conference is taking place in Gladstone, Australia in April 2024.

Mark Your Calendars for the 2024 Internet of Production Alliance Community Calls!

ICFO is offering travel grants to their spring school on open-source tools for quantum science & technology, to be held from 18 to 21 March 2024.

Register for the 1st Joint International Scientific Conference, happening from June 3-6, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya. 

Event: A spotlight on cutting-edge biomonitoring technologies, which will happen at the European Conference on Tropical Ecology, taking place in Lisbon from 12-16 February, 2024.

Now Open: applications for the Jamii Tech Program from the Twende Social Innovation Centre to Design for Socio-Economic Change in Tanzania.

Africa Tech Summit London is happening June 7th, 2024. Pre-register for the event here.

The 2024-2025 Civic Science fellows positions are open for applications. 

The first call of the NGI Zero Commons Fund opens up in February with a deadline of April 1st 2024.

Open Call: S+T+ARTS PRIZE AFRICA is an initiative of the European Commission to foster alliances of technology and artistic practice. The focus is on people and projects that contribute to mastering the social, ecological, and economic challenges. Deadline to apply is March 1st, 2024

The following panel is accepting contributions until February 12: P109: Unexpected ways of knowledge production. Spaces for co-creation in Research Infrastructures.

The Open.Make project has received more funding to work on hardware publication and building maker communities at local institutions.
